What is your philosophy about politics?
As far as I am concerned, politics should should be about rendering service to humanity. And this should not be a do or die affair. As a politician you must have it at the back of your mind that you may not win all the time.
*What do you think qualifies you to lead Ijero Local Government?
I believe my antecedents obviously speak for me. As a seasoned professional accountant with experience of over 28 years in corporate service, an employee who is now an employer of labour who have being on both sides and knows what it means, a manager of material and human resources, who have helped and mentored a good number of young people into greater heights in life, an experienced community leader who have presided over the affairs of community development association for over 6 good years and with great accomplishments as well as excellent track record, and also a seasoned farmer who have experimented and have experience of how agriculture can take the society out of abject poverty. I think I am roundly qualify to lead a local government like Ijero Local Government of Ekiti State. It is my belief that these qualities will propel me to lead Ijero local government to the next level.
If you are elected, what will be the focus area of your administration?
My main focus area is going to be agriculture. It is a fact that Ekiti State and Ijero Local Government in particular is an agrarian society. Farming is our major vocation. So there is series of programs I have tabled down to implement in that sector. Our youths shall be made to be interested in agriculture once again and it shall become the mainstay of our economy as it used to be in the 60s and 70s. My administration will collaborate with the state government to aid the existing farmers and encourage the potential ones. This will be in the area of mechanized agriculture, giving of friendly soft loans to the farmers, availability of subsidized high yield farm produces to the farmers and so on. Another area of my focus shall be in social investment. This will greatly focus on youth development and empowerment. We shall collaborate with relevant agencies and organizations to empower our youths and provide them with sustainable means of livelihood.
You are running on the platform of APC, how do you want to complement Gov Fayemi’s agenda at the local government level?
It is a known fact that one thing that is dear to the government of Governor Fayemi is the restoration of Ekiti core values, as a stakeholder in this government, it is my mission to absolutely align with the state government in this regard. In fact, my mission is to compliment Fayemi’s good work at the local government level.Every stakeholder and paraphernalia of government at the local government level shall be carried along in this regard. This is towards the main aim of ensuring that all the people of the LG enjoy the dividends of democracy as spelt out in the four points agenda of JKF.
What is your view about local government administration in Nigeria as the 3rd tier of government?
As a country we have not yet effectively used the opportunities and benefits of local government. This is the closest to the grassroots of all the 3 tiers of government. Thank God for Governor Fayemi who is changing the narratives in Ekiti. Since coming on board he has demonstrated that he wants a functional and effective local government administration. I am not too happy with the way some state governors have rendered the local government redundant. As a country we need to do more to ensure more responsible, self reliant and resourceful local government formation.
At end of your tenure how do you wish to be remembered?
In short I want to be remembered as the best to have happened to Ijero Local Government.
