Adeola promises creative economy, jobs for Ogun youths
The 2027 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has promised to develop the state’s creative economy and create employment opportunities for young people if elected governor.
Adeola pledged on Sunday during an interactive session with youths in Abeokuta, tagged, “Gen Z Asks, Yayi Listens”, where he said his administration would establish platforms to identify, develop and promote young talents across the state.
The senator said he would strengthen the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to drive talent discovery and promote the creative and entertainment industry, adding that his administration would collaborate with relevant stakeholders to create an enabling environment for young people to thrive.
He also pledged to negotiate employment quotas with industries operating in the state to ensure that qualified Ogun indigenes benefit from available job opportunities, which, he said, would be publicly advertised to guarantee transparency.

On the growing trend of young Nigerians relocating abroad in search of better opportunities, Adeola said his administration would address the challenge by creating well-paying jobs and improving working conditions, particularly for professionals in the medical sector.
He noted that Ogun State needed more doctors and nurses, promising to work towards retaining qualified medical personnel by providing them with opportunities to build their careers within the state.
Adeola also assured the youths that his existing empowerment programmes would be sustained and expanded if elected, disclosing plans to establish a Ministry of Wealth Creation to coordinate empowerment initiatives and skills acquisition programmes.
He further promised to tackle infrastructure and education challenges, declaring that bad roads would become a thing of the past and no student would be forced to study under a tree during his administration.
Earlier, the convener of Gen Z for Yayi, Kira Taiwo, said the engagement was designed to give young people an opportunity to express their expectations and contribute to discussions about the future development of Ogun State.
She expressed hope that the initiative would translate into greater youth participation in governance and provide opportunities for young people to shape policies affecting their future.
