SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards Marks 20 Years, Unveils Landmark Continental Rankings for 2026
The SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards is set to mark a defining milestone in Africa’s sustainability landscape as it celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026, reinforcing its position as the continent’s foremost platform for recognizing corporate responsibility, accountability, and measurable impact.
Since its inception two decades ago, The SERAS has evolved from a pioneering initiative into a continental benchmark for sustainability excellence. At a time when sustainability conversations across Africa were largely centered on philanthropy, the platform introduced a framework focused on transparency, measurable impact, and global standards for responsible business practices.
The 20th anniversary edition, themed *“The Standard. The Impact. The Future. – Sustainability 2036: The Next Frontier,”* will not only celebrate achievements recorded over the past two decades but also chart a strategic direction for the future of sustainability in Africa.
As part of the landmark celebration, The SERAS will unveil three major continental rankings: *Africa’s Top 100 Organizations in Sustainability, Africa’s Top 50 Sustainability Professionals,* and *Africa’s Top 50 CEOs Driving Sustainability.* According to the organizers, the rankings are designed to recognize organizations and individuals who have consistently demonstrated innovation, leadership, and measurable sustainability impact across the continent.

In what is expected to be one of the major highlights of the event, a special all-gold trophy will be presented to the *Most Outstanding Organization in Africa (2007–2026).* The recognition will be determined based on cumulative performance, consistency, and impact recorded over two decades of participation in The SERAS.
Speaking on the journey and significance of the milestone, Founder of The SERAS, Ken Egbas, said the platform was established on the conviction that accountability must be visible and impact measurable.
“Twenty years ago, we started with a simple conviction—that accountability must be visible and impact must be measurable. Today, The SERAS stands as a continental benchmark for sustainability excellence. This milestone is not just about celebrating the past; it is about defining the future. The next decade will demand deeper commitment, stronger collaboration, and real results,” he said.
The 2026 edition will feature an extensive range of award categories covering climate action, circular economy, education, healthcare, gender equality, governance, innovation, and social impact. Leadership categories such as *Sustainability Professional of the Year, CEO of the Year,* and the prestigious *Most Responsible Organization of the Year* will also be presented.
Organizers noted that as The SERAS enters its third decade, it remains more than an awards platform, positioning itself as a movement driving responsible business practices and sustainable development across Africa.
