PDP Picks Daranijo as House of Representatives Candidate for Ikeja Federal Constituency

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Hon. Yaaqub Olugbenga Daranijo as its House of Representatives candidate for Ikeja Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the conclusion of the party’s primary election.

His emergence has been described by party members as a reflection of their confidence in his leadership, grassroots appeal, and commitment to delivering effective representation.

Speaking after his emergence, Daranijo thanked party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to run an issue-based, peaceful, and people-centred campaign under the banner, **”Ikeja Forward – Forward Together, Greater Ikeja.”** He said his priorities include effective representation, youth empowerment, education, infrastructure development, healthcare, and social welfare, while calling on party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.

My constitutional responsibilities as a federal legislator, while complementing Engr. Adedeji Doherty’s broader Lagos State agenda will include:

Effective Representation – Being a strong, accessible voice for every resident of Ikeja Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

Youth Employment & Economic Empowerment – Driving legislation and partnerships that create jobs, expand skills acquisition, support SMEs, and improve access to business opportunities.

Education & Human Capital Development – Advocating for quality education, vocational training, scholarships, ICT innovation, and youth development programmes.

Constituency Development & Social Welfare – Facilitating federal projects, improving infrastructure, expanding healthcare access, supporting vulnerable groups, and ensuring transparent constituency engagement.

Daranijo also congratulated Engr. Adedeji Doherty on his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate for Lagos State, expressing confidence in his ability to drive inclusive growth. He pledged to work closely with Doherty to promote a shared vision of people-centred governance and sustainable development across Lagos State.
