A group, Association of Orlu Zone Women for Good Governance, AOWGG, has attacked the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma for the continued hostility towards Senator representing Imo West at the Senate, Rochas Okorocha.

Addressing a press briefing in Owerri, the women said that the N1 billion allegedly given to the Orlu Political Consultative Assembly, OPOCA, as inducement for them to initiate recall process against their representative in the Senate is a waste as the money could be channelled towards meaningful purposes.

OPOCA had threatened to recall Okorocha following altercations between him and Uzodinma over the ownership of the Royal Spring Palm Apartment and Hotel.

The women, who spoke to Journalists at a briefing in Owerri on Thursday, said the alleged N1 billion being expended to recall Okorocha, who is a former Governor of the State, should be channelled in executing meaningful projects for the people of the State and payment of salaries and pensions.

The women also asked Uzodinma and Okorocha, whom they described as sons of the soil, to stop washing their dirty linens in the open.

President General of the Association, Mrs Bailia Chibuike, who spoke on behalf of the women, advised Uzodinma to face governance and stop fighting Okorocha.

Describing the February 21, clash between the supporters of Uzodinma and Okorocha at Royal Spring Palm Estate, Owerri, which is owned by the ex- governor’s wife, Nkechi Okorocha, as an “ugly incident”.

Chibuike said that the two Politicians “could do better in dialogue than in fighting.”

She said: “The government of Chief Hope Uzodinma should face governance and provide the dividends of democracy for Imo people and leave Okorocha alone.

“The government should apologize to Okorocha for the unwarranted attack on him by Officials of the State government with thugs.

“The State government should take back the N1billion said to have been given to OPOCA for the so-called recall of Okorocha and use the money for other meaningful things in the State.

“We want to warn those behind OPOCA that enough is enough. Enough of their nuisance. And we want them to openly apologize to Okorocha or face the wrath of Orlu zone women.

“We want to ask the government to stop further disturbance of Okorocha and his family henceforth. Since the State can no longer afford all these disturbances.

“We urge the distinguished Senator, Owelle Okorocha not to relent in his service to God and humanity. He achieved a lot for the State as Governor and today, he is doing a lot for Orlu zone as their Senator.”

The women vowed to resist attempts to turn Orlu into a theatre of war and advised Uzodinma that any attempt to recall Okorocha is an exercise in futility.
