The ongoing mass abductions in Nigeria is an embarrassment to the presidency, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has disclosed.
During a live programme on channels television on Friday, Shehu said the frequent abduction of students embarrasses President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
He affirmed that President Buhari is quite conversant with daily events in the country adding “the fastest way to reach President Buhari is to reach the press and reveal the wrong doing that’s happening”.
Shehu noted that Buhari is passionate about the unity of Nigeria as well as tackling the myriads of security challenges in the country.

He further stressed that Nigerians enjoy the freedom of speech under President Buhari’s administration.
On terrorism, he lamented some media practitioners carry out reports that seem to glamorise crime by making some Boko Haram terrorists look like heroes.
“We have the most vibrant media community on the continent and we expect robustness or criticism from them.
“Some of the elements, I am careful to say some of the elements in our media that glamorise crime that will make Boko Haram look like heroes. It doesn’t help anybody.”
