Laying Foundation For A New Nigeria By Tosin Jegede

Date:

Just as the quest to change the ruling political party was ripe on the mind of most Nigerians in 2015, so is the need for a Nigeria that works for all, a New Nigeria now.

It is indeed possible to have a New Nigeria but we must be careful not to have a repeat of 2015 in our political landscape. Based on popular opinion in 2015, change became a moving train envisioned to convey our dreamed nation but was unfortunately high jacked. The change we clamoured for became a political mantra for deceits by greedy politicians.

A new Nigeria is not rocket science; it is indeed in our DNA. Attempt by some intellectually crippled, politically rejected politicians to sell another dummy must be resisted.

Nigerians are not asking for too much, we just want leaders with the capacity to lay the Foundation for A New Nigeria.

A new Nigeria is a country where leaders recognize and appreciate our diversity is their policies and decisions. A nation where we don’t just pay lip service to unity but act United. A United country where it will not matter your village or religion in aspiring for political positions as long as basic moral and legal requirements are met.

A new Nigeria is a country where equity is promoted above sentiment. A nation where it will not matter who your father is or who you know, when you are due, you are not denied. Fairness most be a major consideration in the Nigeria that will work for all.

Justice simply means just behaviour and treatment. In the Nigeria of our dream, citizens will be just in their dealings with fellow citizens and government, while government will justly treat citizens.

It may be difficult identifying leaders with the capacity to deliver this new Nigeria, however, it is easy identifying those that shouldn’t be considered.

For a new Nation, those who participated in putting Nigeria to its current status must stay clear from the future of Nigeria. Nigerians beware, especially youths the Crooks are at it again with the old tricks and antics looking for a new platform to continue with their looting escapade. The cross carpeting and baseless political moves are on. The youths must resist them fully.

All those that have laid siege on our commonwealth in the past years but believe current political platforms may no longer work for their personal selfish agenda are coming together to form a new alliance where they can continue their enterprise of corruption.

What Movement for what new Nigeria are they talking about after destroying the current Nigeria? This is a conglomeration of charlatans that cannot survive without politics and such antics, their only means of survival.

Really, there is no new Nigeria to emerge from the games, permutations and self-serving moves by these set of traders pretending to be leaders. We must lay another yet a new foundation for a new Nigeria based on unity in diversity, equity, fairness, justice and peace for all.

You don’t put an old sour wine into a new wine skin and expect it to stand. Present and former crop of political merchants cannot deliver a new Nigeria. We need redeemers of a dilapidated nation created by these ignoble strange bird fellows.
