Ride-hailing platform, inDrive, has reaffirmed its commitment to drivers’ welfare, saying it continues to charge the lowest commission in Nigeria’s ride-hailing industry.

The company said the reduced commission was designed to cushion the impact of prevailing economic challenges on drivers and enable them to retain a larger share of their earnings.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Country Director in Nigeria, Timothy Oladimeji, inDrive said its efforts to improve drivers’ earnings and welfare extended beyond low service fees.

The company explained that its Comfort module allows drivers with eligible vehicles manufactured from 2008 onwards to earn 30 per cent more on qualifying trips.

According to inDrive, the initiative is designed to create additional earning opportunities for drivers while providing passengers with more transportation options.

The company also disclosed that it was working with Heala and MyCover to improve drivers’ access to healthcare and insurance-related services.

It said the initiatives were part of its broader efforts to address drivers’ welfare needs and improve their experience on the platform.

The statement comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding ride-hailing fares, drivers’ earnings and commission fees in Nigeria’s mobility sector.

inDrive also highlighted the role of stakeholder engagement in improving safety and accountability across the industry.

It said the issues were discussed at its third Safety Summit, recently held in Abuja, which brought together drivers, passengers, couriers, merchants, regulators and other stakeholders to explore ways to strengthen trust and safety in the sector.

The company said it would continue to engage drivers and other stakeholders, using their feedback to improve its services.

It added that it intended to maintain low service fees, introduce initiatives to support drivers’ earnings and welfare, and invest in safety and service improvements.

According to the statement, the company’s objective is to create more earning opportunities for drivers while providing passengers with accessible and reliable transportation services.
