I Won’t Resign – Gov. Bello

The Governor of Niger state, Abubakar Bello on Friday said that he will not resign over the abduction of 27 students of Government Science College, GSC, Kagara.

The Governor said that: “I am not considering resigning anything”, adding that “this is the first time students are being kidnapped in this State”.

The students were abducted alongside 14 others when armed bandits attacked their school on Wednesday morning.

Some Nigerians said the incident, which has been part of a trend of attacks on schools in the northern part of the country, is an indictment on the state government.

However, responding to a question by Journalists at the State Government house, Bello said he is not contemplating resigning over the issue.

He, however, added that the State is doing its best to ensure the students are released within “the next few days or hours”.
