Officially, the federal government of Nigeria has finally proscribed the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as shiites led by Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.
Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police, announced this at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said anyone who associates with the group will be treated as “an enemy of state”.
A federal high court in Abuja had declared the group a terrorist organisation, following an ex parte application filed by the federal government.
The shiites had insisted last week that federal government of Nigeria cannot stop them from the protest as well as practicing their religion.
