Teni Performs With Remi Tinubu at International Women’s Day Event Despite Security Restrictions
A viral video featuring Nigerian singer Teni shows her disregarding security protocols to enter the VIP section at a political event.
In the video, the singer, who appeared to be a guest artist, was seen entertaining the audience with her 2018 single ‘Case’ before attempting to approach the VIP section, where dignitaries such as First Lady Remi Tinubu, the state’s governor Umo Eno, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio were seated.
As she approached the sector, security personnel were seen attempting to hold her back to prevent her from approaching the dignitaries.
She eventually pushed past them, gaining entrance to the area. After entering the VIP section, she engaged Akpabio and Eno in her performance, encouraging them to sing along to a portion of the song before switching to Uyo Meyo.
The first lady was also seen correcting Teni for something uncertain as she knelt in front of her.
Speaking about the event in a Facebook post, Eno expressed gratitude to the president’s wife for her support and encouraging remarks.
He also assured residents of the federal government’s dedication to key infrastructure projects while noting that women at the event backed President Tinubu, Akpabio, and himself for the 2027 elections.
“I joined thousands of women across Akwa Ibom State at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day, with the Wife of the President, Distinguished Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, as Special Guest,” he wrote.
“I appreciate the First Lady for her kind words and encouragement, and for acknowledging the progress we are making in promoting women’s development and inclusive governance.
“I also reassured our people that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to the Ibom Deep Seaport and the ongoing Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, both of which will unlock new economic opportunities for our State.
“The event also featured the endorsement of President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and my humble self for the 2027 elections by the women of Akwa Ibom State. I congratulate Akwa Ibom women on the successful celebration and thank them for their continued support and commitment to the progress of our State.”
