President Bola Tinubu has approved the procurement of brand-new Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for traditional rulers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), following the recent upgrading of their traditional stools.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this on Saturday at the Rainbow Coalition Stakeholders Rally in Abuja, organised by the FCT Stakeholders Assembly, saying the vehicles would be delivered before December.

Wike said the presidential gesture was in recognition of the important role traditional rulers play in preserving cultural heritage and maintaining peace in their communities. He noted that Tinubu had also approved the upgrading of traditional institutions in the FCT after 27 years of neglect. The minister further announced the approval of four buses for FCT youths to strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the January 16, 2027 elections.

The rally attracted traditional rulers, area council chairmen, community leaders, youth and women groups, as well as APC and PDP leaders, who endorsed Tinubu for a second term and supported Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda and other candidates for the National Assembly elections. Wike urged supporters to secure victory through effective grassroots mobilisation, insisting that every political leader must deliver their polling unit, ward and local government.
