COVID-19: Gov. Ben Ayade, Orders Civil Servants To Resume Work, Adopts ” No Mask, No Movement” Policy

Amid COVID-19 concerns, Governor Ben Ayade-led Government of Cross River State has ordered Civil Servants in the State from grade level 10 to resume work on Tuesday, April 14.

The order came at the period most Governors in Nigeria have been extending stay-at-home order in their States following the rising cases of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic across the country.

Ayade, who gave the order in a statement issued by his Spokesman, Christian Ita, however, noted that “all returning Civil Servants are to receive nose masks from the COVID-19 Response Task Force through their respective Permanent Secretaries”.

The statement government said the ‘no mask, no movement’ policy in the State is still in operation and applicable to the Civil Servants.

It added that gatherings of all kinds, including religious worships, weddings and burials remained banned in the State, the governor said only residents wearing the appropriate mask would be allowed into public places like markets, malls, sports, and banks.

He said: “All nose masks to be used in the state must be locally made, with the place of origin clearly marked.

“The sale of masks made by the Cross River State Garment Factory is prohibited. Masks are to be distributed free of charge.”

Cross River which is among States in Nigeria yet to any record coronavirus case has since banned entrance into the State, as well as vehicles and flights from other States.
