Wole Oke left for fear of unknown – PDP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Osun State, has said the resignation of Wole Oke was not surprising, saying that the lawmaker left because of fear of unknown.
Reacting to the resignation of Oke, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP, Oladele Olabimiji, said the long-serving lawmaker has realised the fact that another person would contest against him and the automatic ticket would not be possible this time, hence, his decision to dump the party.
“It was an expected occurrence. Anyone following Honourable Wole Oke in the same category of internal politics in Osun State would agree that perhaps because of fear of the unknown, as someone who is perpetually interested in going back to the National Assembly, where he served that anyone coming up against him is a threat.
“In politics and in democracy generally, there will always be people coming up to show interest in positions of service. I to humanity through politics.
“What we have seen so far in the characteristics posture of Honourable wole Oké, I believe that he has enjoyed what I can call freebies so far, such that we will not want anyone to contest against him at any point in time.
“And he felt that perhaps because of the turn of events in the politics of Osun State in 2022, where many stakeholders of the party are also gearing up to show interest in the state in 2022, he felt that he should begin to tighten the party as usual. Because that has been his stock in trade.
“He would threaten the party here and there, but perhaps he was mistaken that we are no more in opposition in Osun State. He should have changed his style.
“So, for us, it is because of the fear of the unknown. That is why he felt that perhaps because he felt the party was not also relenting on the democratic ethos of the party, because perhaps he felt that the party was not forthcoming enough to say that, oh, Wole, we have given you another return ticket to the National Assembly,” Olabimiji said.
