The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has embarked on a diplomatic mission to China to engage with officials from the China Geo-Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction (CGCOC) Group.
The visit aims to accelerate the provision of potable water to satellite towns within the FCT, including Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje Area Councils.
In a statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said Wike will hold crucial talks to follow up on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last year between the Nigerian government and Chinese firms CGCOC and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
This agreement, initiated during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to China, focuses on improving electricity and water infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory.

President Tinubu had approved ₦50 billion for the water supply projects as part of his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented infrastructure, renewing hope among FCT residents.

The statement said the Minister’s trip underscored the FCT Administration’s dedication to fulfilling this directive and ensuring that satellite towns receive reliable water supply.
Minister Wike is expected to return to Nigeria next week after concluding the engagements, which are critical to the timely completion of the Greater Abuja Water Works and other related infrastructure projects.
