President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates from the 68 confirmed by the Senate last December, signaling a strategic push in Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements.
In a State House press release issued Thursday evening, the President confirmed Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s envoy to France, Colonel Lateef Are to the United States of America, and Amin Dalhatu – former envoy to South Korea – as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Notably, former Kebbi State Governor Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman has been designated as Ambassador to Turkey, where President Tinubu is set to begin a state visit next week.
The release, signed by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to notify the respective governments in line with diplomatic protocols.
“President Tinubu urged the ministry to notify the governments of the four countries about the ambassador-designates, in accordance with diplomatic procedures,” the memo stated.
