Victor Osimhen has said it was important for Napoli to start the defence of their Serie A title on a winning note.
The Partenopei rallied from a goal down to beat Frosinone 3-1 at the Stadio Benito Stirpe on Saturday.
Osimhen continued his fine form in the Italian top-flight by netting a brace in the encounter.
The 24-year-old reflected on the victory, while congratulating his teammates.
“It was important to start well, congratulation to the team,” Osimhen told DAZN.
“The opponent gave us a hard time, they are a good side. We have a great squad, and I am happy with this win. I’m happy I scored two goals, we must keep this momentum.”
Osimhen has earned huge plaudits from manager Rudi Garcia all summer.
Garcia recently likened the Nigeria international with Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 24-year-old is delighted to get huge backing from the Frenchman.
“What can I say? It’s important for the coach to believe in me, it’s also important to repay the trust on the pitch,” said Osimhen.
“Everyone’s the leader, we have to take responsibility. We have Di Lorenzo, the captain, Mario Rui, Meret. As I said, we are one group. We want to keep on improving.”
