Orji Uzor Kalu, the Chief Whip of the Senate and the Senator representing Abia north senatorial district in Abia State, has implored colleagues who have an interest in the presidency of the senate to focus more on the difference they can make rather than exerting energy on blackmails.
Kalu’s latest statement comes on the backdrops of current political intrigues and power tussle among the Nigerian senators over the position of the President of the Senate in soon-to-be inaugurated 10th national assembly.
Kalu, who was also former Governor of Abia State between 1999 to 2007, while speaking against the undemocratic activities in a statement posited that a nation cannot progress and succeed under the atmosphere of hatred, lies and propaganda.
He frowned in strong terms the latest falsehoods, high-level and low-level character assassination and defamation of his person, wherein, some disgruntled individuals had resorted to using his name for gossip in a desperate bid to clinch the exalted position of the President of the 10th Nigerian senate.
The federal lawmaker warned, “we should always remember God’s authority in our lives.
“We should remember that the life we live is not for ourselves alone but for God and then accommodate other people.
“We should remember that any wealth, power, or strength we have originated from God.
“Any gift or talent we have-the same is true(James 1:17; and 1 Corinthians 12:1-11).
“Even our ability to give generously comes from God (Deuteronomy 8:18; 2 Corinthians 9: 10-11).
“Everything we have, when we know and embrace this, we would better people with better minds”, the Igbo chieftain added.
