The Ogun State Police Command has declared one Bolaji Akingbala wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on April 30, 2024, involving a suspect identified as Babatunde Idris.

According to police sources, Bolaji’s close friend and male partner, Babatunde Idris, was involved in an incident at a nightclub. A fight broke out in the club, prompting the owner to call the police. When the police arrived, they raided the club and arrested several people at random. Babatunde was unfortunate; he was reportedly found with visible injuries and taken into custody for questioning along with others.

During the interrogation, officers reportedly found video clips on Idris’s mobile phone, which appeared to show evidence of alleged same-sex acts between the two men—an offence criminalized under Nigerian law. Based on the findings, police took Idris, under heavy security and in handcuffs, to Akingbala’s residence for further investigation.

A resident of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “We saw the police bring a man in handcuffs to the compound. Later, we heard they were looking for Bolaji over what they called a ‘serious immoral matter’.”

However, before officers could apprehend Akingbala, he had reportedly fled the area. Efforts to trace his whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.
