Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday said the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abdulrahman Mohammed has rescued the party which was in an Intensive Care Unit, ICU.

Fayose said Mohammed is looking after PDP now, adding that the party would survive under his leadership.

He was reacting to the Oyo State High Court ruling that ordered the PDP to go ahead with its planned national convention.

On October 31, 2025, Justice James Omotosho-led Abuja Federal High Court had halted the planned national convention scheduled for Ibadan for lack of adhering to due process.

But, Justice A.L. Akintola overruled the judgement, ordering the party to go ahead with the planned national convention.

In a statement he issued, Fayose said: “It appears that desperation has affected their sense. If not, they won’t go to a State High Court to obtain an order on a matter already decided by a Federal High Court.

“Unfortunately for them, the PDP has been rescued from their hands and it is now in intensive care, being looked after by the new Acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman.

“I am hopeful that the party will survive under Abdulrahman, and start the most important process of healing from the injuries it suffered from the vampires, which the Ibadan elements represent.”
