Oretuyi Adewumi bags TIME Special Recognition Award in Lagos

Fashion entrepreneur, Oretuyi Adewumi, has received the TIME Special Recognition Award for Fast Rising Fashion Entrepreneur at the TIME Conference and Awards 2024 held in Lagos.

The award was presented at an event held on April 28 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, where young entrepreneurs from different sectors were recognised for their contributions to business development and innovation.

Adewumi, who is the Creative Director of ORTEBESPOKE, was honoured for his growing influence in the fashion industry and his emergence as one of the notable young designers gaining traction in Nigeria’s creative space.

The TIME Conference and Awards, organised by the Young Entrepreneurs International Summit (YEIS), is aimed at recognising and celebrating outstanding young entrepreneurs while also providing a platform for networking and collaboration across industries.

Organisers said the recognition category for fast rising entrepreneurs highlights individuals who have demonstrated consistency, creativity and business growth within a short period.

Adewumi expressed appreciation for the award, noting that the recognition would serve as motivation to further develop his brand and expand his footprint in the fashion industry.

“This award is a reminder that the work we are putting into building our brand is being seen and appreciated. It has not been an easy journey, but moments like this encourage me to keep pushing and refining my craft. My goal is to take ORTEBESPOKE beyond Nigeria and establish it as a globally recognised fashion brand.” He said.

The certificate issued at the event indicates that the summit is held in association with the Office of the Duke of Royan, France, although further details of the affiliation were not independently verified.

The event featured the presentation of awards to entrepreneurs across different sectors, underscoring the role of youth-driven enterprises in Nigeria’s economic development.
