No regret campaigning for Tinubu, I will do it again – Olaiya Igwe

Veteran Nollywood actor, Olaiya Igwe has reiterated his support for President Bola Tinubu, just days after apologising to Nigerians over campaigning for him.
In an interview with Kola Olootu, Olaiya clarified that his apologies did not mean he regretted campaigning for the president.
He stated that if given the opportunity, he would continue to campaign and vote for him.
He said: “Some people are saying I regret campaigning for Tinubu. I do not regret campaigning for Tinubu, I will do it again if I have the opportunity.”
Igwe attracted attention in 2023 for praying naked at a beach for Tinubu.
The thespian had issued a public apology to Nigerians for going naked at a beach to campaign for Tinubu.
In a video, the actor explained that his actions were driven by a divine revelation he claimed to have received regarding Tinubu.
Olaiya Igwe also acknowledged Tinubu’s assistance, particularly in matters related to his health, as the reason behind his show of support for the politician.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has described the famous Nigerian songstress, Temilade Openiyi, a.k.a. Tems’ Grammy Awards victory as historic.

The governor in his congratulatory message on Monday afternoon, stated that Tems’ victory showcased her extraordinary talent and dedication.

Gatekeeper reports that Tems on Sunday night at the 67th Grammy Awards ceremony, won the Best African Music Performance award with her song ‘Love Me JeJe’.

Speaking in a post on his X handle, Sanwo-Olu wrote “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Temilade Openiyi @temsbaby, for winning the Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards with her song ‘Love Me JeJe’.

“This historic achievement marks her as the first Nigerian artist to win in this category, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication.

“I also commend our other Nigerian nominees, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, and Davido for their outstanding contributions to music. Your artistry continues to elevate Nigeria’s presence on the global stage, and we are immensely proud of your accomplishments.”

Peter Obi congratulates Tems on Grammy win

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigerian singer, Tems, on her victory at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.

Gatekeeper reports that Tems’ ‘Love Me Jeje’ won the Best African Music Performance award over “Tomorrow” (Yemi Alade), “MMS” (Asake & Wizkid), “Sensational” (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay), and “Higher” (Burna Boy), on Sunday.

Reacting in a statement shared via his X handle on Monday, Obi also celebrated the other Nigerian artists who were nominated in various categories despite missing out on the awards.

“I extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby , who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category.

“I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” the statement partly read.

Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth has finally responded to those asking him to comment on 2Face and Annie’s marital drama.

Gatekeeper reports that singer 2Face on Sunday evening, announced his separation from wife, Annie.

A development which has continued to generate intense reactions on social media, especially among celebrities.

However, speaking in a viral video on his Instagram page on Saturday, Basketmouth claimed he did not want to get involved in the conversation.

Addressing those questioning his silence over the issue, Basketmouth who had previously faced public scrutiny during his divorce in 2022, said he doesn’t want to be dragged.

“I have been receiving lots of emails and DMs from people asking me why I don’t want to get involved in Tuface and Annie’s matters? I have known 2Face for 27 years and I met Annie 24 years ago.

“First of all, I’m not in any position to get involved, because I’m not qualified at all. Make I no go talk the one wey go make people remember my own, con dey drag my head.

“This new year 2025, wey we just enter, I’m just trying to have undraggable year. Please, don’t push me.”
