Resident doctors in the Alex Ekweme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki numbering over two hundred, have embarked on a 3-day warning strike.
The strike, according to investigation resulted in the partial shut down of work and other activities going on in the hospital.
According to the striking doctors, the warning strike followed the alleged refusal of the management of the hospital to pay them all arrears of their salary shortfall.
An eyewitness at the hospital said, “Resident doctors of Alex Ekwueme University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki have embarked on a 3-day warning strike.
“The strike is as a result of the refusal of the management of the hospital to pay the doctors their arrears of salary shortfall,” he said.
It was learnt that the strike has already started coursing havoc to the people of the state, especially patients seeking medical assistance.
