Niger Police Command debunks report of an alleged abduction of ten from hotel in Niger
The Niger State police command has debunk the report in an online publication of an alleged kidnapped of no fewer than ten persons from a hotel in Minna, the State capital by Gunmen disguised as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The police command said there was no such kidnap incident in Minna as claimed by the online publication which was credited to a security analyst and counter insurgency specialist, Zagazola Makama.
The police command public relation officer SP Wasiu Abiodun in a statement in Minna on Sunday titled “refusal” and made available to newsmen said the raid in the hotel was actually carried out by men of the EFCC with the knowledge of the command.
The two paragraphs statement reads: “Niger State Police Command wishes to respond to a publication circulating in some online media, that bandits attacked a hotel in Minna and abducted ten persons.
“It is important to state that this narrative is not true, as the said operation was carried out by EFCC operatives”, the statement added
According to the online publication “Suspected criminals impersonating agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have allegedly kidnapped ten individuals from the White Hill Hotel located on Shiroro Road in the Chanchaga Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State”.
The report which was credited to the security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist, Zagazola Makama, cited intelligence sources, indicating that the incident took place at approximately 4:58 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2025.
The said report added that armed assailants reportedly invaded the hotel, asserting that they were EFCC officials conducting an official operation.
The report further claimed the development has been confirmed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Intelligence Department (Acpol SID), but could not give the name.
