Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has condemned in strong terms the tragic death of Emeka Christian, a Nigerian beaten to death in Pune, India, by two compatriots amid a romantic dispute.
The statement wassigned by NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Christian was allegedly killed by Chukwudi Okafor, 31, and Samuel Eze, described as his “brothers,” in a senseless act of violence, NiDCOM revealed in a statement Saturday.
The commission extended deepest condolences to Christian’s family and loved ones, stressing that “no family should endure such heartbreak.”
NiDCOM urged Indian authorities to launch a thorough, transparent investigation and ensure swift justice for the victim.
In a call to Nigerians abroad, Chairman/CEO Abike Dabiri-Erewa implored diaspora members to act as “brothers’ keepers,” resolve conflicts peacefully, and uphold unity, respect, and lawfulness as ambassadors of Nigeria.
“Violence has no place among us. Together, we can build a stronger, more positive diaspora community,” Dabiri-Erewa counselled.
