The Anambra State House of Assembly has elected Dr. Pete Ibida (APGA-Njikoka II) as its new Chief Whip to replace Lawrence Ezeu, who resigned in December.
This was contained in a letter by the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, read by Speaker Uche Okafor on Thursday.
“Members of APGA, which is the majority party in the House, met and elected Dr. Pete Ibida, representing Njikoka II Constituency, as the new Chief Whip of the House,” Okafor said.

Responding, Ibida appreciated the House for finding him worthy to serve as the Chief Whip.
“I promise to use this position to champion excellence for the interest and progress of the Anambra state Assembly,” Ibida said.
The Majority Leader, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor, congratulated Ibida on behalf of the lawmakers and assured him of their support.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the former Chief Whip resigned on December 7, 2021 following his defection from APGA to the All Progressives Congress, which was a minority party in the House.
