Nigerian artist Omah Lay experienced an unexpected encounter with an earthquake for the first time while being interviewed on the Zach Sang Show on Thursday.

The interview took an unusual turn just as they were discussing the Afrobeat genre and the influence of music legend Fela Kuti.

As the tremor hit the studio, host Zach Sang reacted with surprise, exclaiming, “Wow, earthquake, holy sh#t!”

Omah Lay, visibly startled, responded, “Wow, that’s weird. I have never seen an earthquake; I have never witnessed it. That is crazy.”

The host, still sensing the tremors, added, “That’s an earthquake. I could still feel it. That was a big one. Is everyone in the other room good?”

Despite the disruption, the interview continued, with Omah Lay sharing his experiences growing up in Nigeria and how his background has shaped his music and success in the global music scene.

He said, “It was beautiful growing up in Nigeria, where you have less,

“Now that I have more, I can use my experiences and resources in ways that people who have always had more might not. In my opinion, it makes you very strong and unique.”

The host then asked, “How proud are your parents?”

In response, Omah Lay expressed deep appreciation for his mother’s support, stressing how her love and support keep him going.

He said: “My mum is very proud, she knows I love her so much and she loves me so much too. Her love for me is my fuel and I just look back at her and see how far we’ve come, my energy doesn’t die.

“She’s very proud of me and she trusts me and my decisions. She trusts that I’m going to be a very awesome human being and that keeps me going, it’s very motivating.”

He questioned how Nigerian banks can report trillions of Naira in profits each quarter, even amid a struggling economy.

Edo killings: We can’t be counting scores with lives of Nigerians – Mr Macaroni

Popular content creator, Mr Macaroni said those defending the mob killings of 16 travellers in Uromi, Edo State are doing a great disservice to the nation.

He said there is no justification for jungle justice, noting that it must be unanimously condemned.

Bobrisky pens emotional tribute to late mother, reveals personal hardships

Controversial crossdresser Bobrisky has written a poignant homage to his late mother, reflecting on the heavy responsibilities he has assumed since her death.

In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, Bobrisky discussed the devastating impact of his mother’s death, describing it as a heartbreaking experience that has altered his life and duties after her passing.

The crosdresser thought on the devastating loss of his mother, who died in Mecca on October 28, 2008.

He revealed that her final words to him were a sincere request to care for his elder brother.

“I remember 28 October 2008 you called me and said bobo Omo mi incase I don’t make it back to Nigeria pls take care of ur brother. I asked you why should I be the one to take care of my brother?

“You said because you feel I’m stronger and have got thick skin,” he recounted, expressing the pain of losing her the very next day.

“Sadly, the next day I heard you pass away in MECCA Saudi. I keep screaming mummy mummy but you are far gone from this world.”

Since her death, Bobrisky claimed to have taken on the responsibility of caring for his family, including his grandmother, who is now 87 years old and in good health.

He also stated that he supports his elder brother, who has a family of his own.

“I’m still the one taking care of them till date. Mummy, ur baby need more strength to continue this responsibility,” he wrote.

He added that the year 2024 was particularly challenging for him, marked by significant financial losses and a controversial situation involving the EFCC related to currency issues.

He noted that sharing his struggles online often invites ridicule, as many have been anticipating his downfall.

“I went through hell in Nigeria as at 2024, I lost so much money.

“I can’t come online to cry because many of them will laugh at me because they have been waiting for this moment. Mummy, I need ur strength right now.

“I can’t say much here on the internet; all I need now is more strength,” he concluded.
