LASG Reiterates Commitment to Quality Health Care
The Lagos State Government has reiterated commitment to ensuring delivery of quality health care to the people.
During the annual Strategic Leadership and Financial Management Retreat for Healthcare Executives in the Public Sector, the LASG emphasized that on no grounds will the Health Sector give substandard health care services.
The Chairman Health Service Commission, Dr. Mrs. Atinuke Onayiga explained that the programme with theme “Institutionalizing Best Practices for Achieving Excellence in Hospitals” is a regular activity of the Lagos States Government to organize programmes strategically targeted at the Management level pulling all leaders from the various health facilities together to review, refresh, and reorientate them.
Dr. Atinuke said for over 5 years now, this has been focused on capacity development where these Health leaders will in turn go back to their various stations to educate the staff and pass on the knowledge to foster better health delivery.
The key speaker of the day, Dr. Jibike Oyewunmi emphasized that the health system is basically about the patients and the welfare of the staff and that quality starts with the leadership.
She said they are actively partnering with the LASG to ensure the Health system is moved to standard Zone where the patients are fully cared for and quality maintained maximally through more intense trainings and attitudinal change oriented programmes like this.
The permanent Secretary, Helath Servicr Commsision, Dr. Ademuyiwa Benjamin Eniayewun, added that the event is key to build a resilence system that is error free, taking on the issues in management service delivery while reviewing the wins and challenges thus far, strengthening the health processes, financial management, building sustainability and expose them to the needed Management skills.
In attendance were majority of the Medical Directors of all General Hospitals, Heads of Departments, permanent Secretaries and others in the leadership Cadre of the Ministry.
The retreat held various sessions ranging from professional views to handling the health environment, building a proactive maintenance culture for medical equipment, storing and dispersing of drugs, handling of hospital gadgets and maintains safety, avoiding complicating patients ailments via infections ing certain cases, managing fatigue and stress on the staff and a large range of issues peculiar to the medical line.
