Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Friday in Kano presented a budget of N 549,160 ,417663 for the 2025 appropriation year
Tagged “Budget of Hope, Human capital and Development” the budget is slightly higher than the 2024 approved budget in the state, which stood at N437,338,312,787.93.
Addressing the Assembly, Yusuf proposed a recurrent expenditure of N238.5 billion and a capital spending of
N312.6 billion, both representing 57 to 43 percent expenditure ratio in the coming year.
Yusuf expressed commitment to education. indicating that the sector got the lion’s share of N168. 3 billion representing 31 percent of the budget.
Other high ranking allocations are health, which got N90.6 billion, representing 16.5 percent and agriculture, which got N21.4 billion representing 3.8 percent of the budget.
Yusuf proposed to present the following billìs to the Assembly in 2025. They include Education Trust Bill. Security Trust Bill, Marriage Control Bill. Social Protection bill. Social Inclusion, Kano State Information Technology bill. Public Complaints and Anti Corruption bill and Proceeds of Crime bills among others.
He expressed optimism that the full implementation the 2025 budget would improve the economic prosperity of the state and reduce its dependence on Fedeeal allocations.
