Security agencies in Bayelsa State have imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the State.

The State’s Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozia, announced the curfew during a press briefing on Friday.

Anozia, who briefed the press alongside heads of other security agencies in the Government House, Yenagoa, said that the curfew would begin on Friday and end on Sunday.

He stated that the curfew would hold between 8 pm and 6 am during the period.

Anozia further revealed that the decision followed the violent protests that rocked the state capital on Friday morning when the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 2019 election, Douye Diri, was issued a Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
