JUST IN: A’Ibom Sets To Float Agric Micro Finance Bank
Among the big plans of Governor Udom Emmanuel for Akwa Ibom people in 2020 is the setting up of an Agric Micro Finance Bank to boost Agriculture and agro based ventures.
The project which is one of the numerous expectations from government in 2020 is borne out of the high prospects of agriculture in food production and security for the teeming people of the state as well as the openings and value chain opportunities inherent in agriculture such as: job creation, wealth creation and poverty alleviation.
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Information, Sir Charles Udoh, made this known in Uyo over the weekend while appearing on a Live AKBC Radio 90.5 FM interview programme – Akwa Ibom Calling.
The Information Boss who was making projections into government plans for 2020 said the year paints a very bright future for the people of the state reiterated that, with politics and politicking now taking the bank bench in 2020, Governor Udom Emmanuel is focusing squarely on governance and the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.
Stressing that, there will be accelerated implementation of development programmes by the Governor, Sir Charles Udoh enlisted other programmes and programmes to look out for in 2020 to include: the replication of vegetable green house in all the 31 LGAs of the state, the automation of the state Civil Service Payroll for seamless transition from workers payroll to the pensions payroll on retirement by civil servants and the tackling in full scale of the IBB flooding as well as the gully erosion menace at Saint Luke’s hospital, Anua in Uyo LGA.
According to the State spokesman, 2020 will witness the rehabilitation and upgrading of more secondary health institutions in the state for enhanced healthcare service delivery and listed those institutions earmarked for the exercise to include: Immanuel General hospital, Eket, which is to be commissioned, the General hospitals, Ikot Ekpene and Ikot Abasi which are to be rehabilitated as well as Okon health facility which is to be upgraded.
Expressing with pride, the industrialization-zeal and high performance of Governor Udom Emmanuel in infrastructural development, Sir Udoh pointed out that, the 25km Uyo-Ikot Ekpene dualization road project, which the administration met at about five percent construction work is now at 98 percent completion with construction very close to Four Point by Sheraton hotel while work at the hughbrow hotel which was met at about 64 percent completion will now be completed and given proper commissioning for operation.
He said the state is also expecting an increase in its internally generated revenue, IGR, as the 21 storey smart building is to be commissioned for utilization with great expectations that, EXXONMOBIL has appreciated the building and is getting set to relocate its headquarters from Lagos to Uyo, the state capital.
On aviation, the Information Commissioner said, the main terminal building at the Victor Attah International Airport will be wearing a new look as work is going on steadily adding that the airport is the only state government-owned airport in Nigeria, run hundred percent by Akwa Ibom state government and has the best runway.
Udoh emphasized that Governor Udom Emmanuel has mapped out a lot of developmental and life touching packages in all sectors for the people in his completion Agenda and urged all to look at the bigger picture of a unified and prosperous Akwa Ibom of our dream where people will rise above myopic political sentiments and selfish interest.
