I want to play next match — Victor Osimhen tells Galatasaray despite injury
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has informed his club manager that he would like to play in Galatasaray’s next Super Lig game against Gençlerbirliği.
This is despite persistent medical issues and the club’s technical and medical personnel’ cautious approach given the crucial fixture calendar.
According to information shared on Spor Gecesi Digital and reported by journalist Gökhan Dinç, the Super Eagles forward has made it clear that he wants to play again.
He has told Galatasaray management and coaching staff, “I want to play in the Gençlerbirliği match,” as cited by Habersarikirmizi.
The striker’s appeal underscores his enthusiasm to hasten his return as the season approaches a pivotal period.
However, Galatasaray’s technical and medical teams are taking a cautious approach given the importance of the next matches, notably the Fenerbahçe derby.
Dinç commented on the club’s internal evaluation, stating that the technical team and medical personnel believe the risk of a complete recovery at this time is excessively high.
He remarked that “the technical staff and doctors regard it as extremely risky for Osimhen to be included in the starting eleven prior to the Fenerbahçe derby. Consequently, I do not anticipate Osimhen starting in the Gençlerbirliği match,” highlighting the club’s commitment to long-term fitness over immediate participation.
Despite the hesitance to start him, Osimhen is still anticipated to assume a controlled role from the bench.
The strategy is to gradually reintegrate him into competitive play while carefully managing his workload to prevent any setbacks.
According to Dinç, the club’s plan remains distinctly outlined, as “Osimhen will participate in the final 15-20 minutes of the Gençlerbirliği match, irrespective of the score. The primary objective is to prepare Osimhen for the Fenerbahçe derby,” he stated.
