Governors, Saraki, Dogara, Hold Emergency Meeting

Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday night met with the leadership of the party alongside immediate past Senate President Bukola Saraki and the House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara in Abuja.

The meeting which held at Bayelsa State Government Lodge, Maitama, Abuja, saw the newly elected Governors under the party joining their returning colleagues to deliberate on issues affecting the nation and the party.

It was learnt that meeting dwelt on the tussle for the Leadership of the National Assembly, the repositioning of the party for the next four years and the petition by the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at the election Tribunal.

The meeting however comes less than two weeks after the previous one which saw the Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Dickson, take over as the Chairman of the body. This followed the exit of former Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo.


Besides the host, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, other Governors at the meeting were those of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta; Seyi Makinde,  Oyo; Dave Umahi, Ebonyi; Darius Ishyaku, Taraba; Senator Bala Mohammed, Bauchi; Adamu Fintiri,  Adamawa; Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia; Nyesom Wike, Rivers; Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom; Emeka Ihedioha, Imo; Hon Bello Mohammed Mutawalle, Zamfara and Deputy Governor of Benue State.
