The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has donated the N40 million awarded by the Supreme Court to him and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, to the church to promote the work of God.
Recall that the Supreme Court on Wednesday, February 26, fined the APC’s Lawyers, Afe Babalola, SAN, and Wole Olanipekun, SAN, over their failed application for a review the judgment that sacked David Lyon.
The Senior Lawyers were asked to pay the respondents, that is, Diri, Ewhrudjakpo, and the PDP.
Governor Diri announced the donation on Saturday during a special thanksgiving service at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House in Yenagoa.
The Bayelsa Governor expressed gratitude to God and the people of the State for their support and prayers.
He described the Supreme Court review verdict as an act of God that became a reality through the wisdom and courage of the apex court.
Earlier, Governor Diri said the Supreme Court’s ruling on the APC’s application was only an affirmation of God’s judgement on Bayelsa State.
He commended the Justices of the Supreme Court for affirming their earlier judgement which made him the State Governor.
