Go to hell, Nuhu Ribadu has balls – Fani-Kayode blasts Canadian embassy over visa row

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Friday challenged the Canadian embassy in Nigeria to “go to hell.”

Fani-Kayode made the remark while commending the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, for berating the embassy after it denied Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, and other military officials visas.

Musa and some military chiefs were scheduled to speak at a veterans’ event in Canada but were denied entry visas.

Reacting, Ribadu said, “They can go to hell.”

Fani-Kayode praised Ribadu, stating that Nigeria now has an NSA with “some balls” who can stand up to foreigners.

Posting on X, Fani-Kayode wrote: “At last, we now have an NSA that has some balls and that is prepared to stand up to foreigners that treat our people with contempt.

“@NuhuRibadu was right when he said that the Canadian Embassy was being ‘disrespectful’ by not granting visas to some of our military top brass, including the CDS, who were scheduled to attend a formal event in their country. He also told them to ‘go to hell!’

“Proud of you, Nuhu. The days of foreign governments kicking us in the teeth and getting away with it are long over.

“What makes this case worse is that Canada may not even be a sovereign, independent country for much longer if @realDonaldTrump has his way and may end up being the 51st state of America!

“Imagine a conflicted entity like that, which is not sure of its own future, treating our senior military officers with contempt.

“They should not only ‘go to hell’ but they should also go and jump in the lagoon.

“Nigeria has paid her dues and MUST be treated with respect.”

Transport minister refutes claims of high-speed rail approval

Published

on

The Federal Ministry of Transportation has dismissed reports claiming that a high-speed bullet train linking Lagos and Abuja is set to cut travel time between both cities to just two to three hours.

In a statement issued by the ministry’s management, it was clarified that the news report, published by a major news media (not Vanguard) on February 18, 2025, was false and misleading.

The report alleged that Nigeria’s transport sector was undergoing a revolution with the imminent launch of the bullet train, citing the Director of Operations at Geofocus Consortium, Engineer Yinka Idris, as its source.

The ministry confirmed that Geofocus Consortium had submitted an unsolicited proposal for the Lagos-Abuja bullet train project in 2016 under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with 100% private sector financing.

However, it was only in 2024 that the Outline Business Case (OBC) for the project was forwarded to the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) for due diligence.

According to him, it was Almighty God who used certain individuals to support his governorship ambition and help him assume office.

“Can you even point out one godfather who was pushing me?” he asked.

“God was using people to help me, to support me, to get to where I am today,” he added.
