The removal subsidy on petrol was a step in the right direction to free Nigerians from the chains of poverty oil thieves had caged the country over time.
According to the presidential adviser on special duties, communications, and strategy, Dele Alake, previous administrations could not summon the courage to take the decision for many reasons.
In a parley with some media executives in Lagos on Wednesday, Alake noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu possesses the leadership qualities Nigeria needs to move the nation forward positively.
” During the 2023 campaign, all the candidates promised to remove fuel subsidy if voted. But President Tinubu being a man of courage, vision, and competence took that decision on the first day in office to free Nigerians from the chains of poverty these oil thieves had placed on us all. He took that decision as a leader with focus and purpose.” Alake said
The Presidential adviser noted that President Tinubu is not unaware of the current pains Nigerians are passing through, but he pleaded with citizens to bear ” these temporary” pains as the gains will outweigh the pains soon.
” What we have now is liken to a woman in the labour room. Just after the temporary pains, joy and laughter will follow. I urge all of us as citizens to exercise more patience as there is joy after the current economic inconveniences. President Tinubu is a passionate and detribalized leader who will work for the survival of Nigeria.” Alake noted.
Alake said developed nations are governed by sound policies and established institutions which Nigeria lack in decades. He said President Tinubu is reputed for making policies for the benefit of all.
