Businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose has reaffirmed his support for Peter Obi, insisting that his recent meetings with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and Joaquin Wike, son of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, do not change his political position.

Fayose made the clarification in a video shared on his Facebook page following criticism from some Nigerians over his association with the families of prominent political figures.

Some social media users had questioned his political loyalty, accusing him of contradicting his support for the opposition by spending time with the sons of President Tinubu and Wike.

However, Fayose said personal relationships should not be determined by political differences, stressing that he would not reject either Seyi Tinubu or Joaquin Wike simply because he disagrees with their fathers politically.

“I see many of you saying Mr Isaac is in APC but just playing games with the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC. I don’t play games,” he said.

He added, “Tinubu must go. Wike is a land grabber. That doesn’t mean that Wike’s son will come and greet me and I will slap him. Or President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi, will come and greet me and I will kick him.”

Fayose maintained that his position on the 2027 presidential election remained unchanged, reiterating his support for Obi despite the controversy surrounding his recent social interactions.

“I campaigned for Obi. Do you know how much I spent on the last election? I still support Peter Obi. I still want Tinubu out of power,” he said.

The businessman also said his relationship with the Tinubu family should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the President’s administration or a decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He explained that he could maintain cordial relationships with people whose political views differed from his own without abandoning his convictions.

Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has previously faced criticism over his public interactions with Seyi Tinubu.

His latest comments come amid discussions about political alignments ahead of the 2027 general election.
