Family Cries Out as Cultists Strike Again
A family in Sagamu, Ogun State, is crying out to the Nigerian government and security agencies for urgent intervention after suspected cultists gunned down one of their relatives, Mr. Solarin Nasiru Adeniyi, on May 4, 2025.
The family believes they have been targeted for years due to the role of one of their own who works in security and has been instrumental in arresting and disrupting the operations of cultists in the region since 2023
Eyewitnesses reported that three young men emerged from a black Toyota Camry and opened fire on Mr. Nasiru while he was returning home along Sagamu Express Road. He was rushed to the nearest hospital but was confirmed dead before arrival.
“This family has suffered repeated attacks since 2023,” a community member told our correspondent. “It’s because one of their sons, who is a security officer, has been catching these cultists and exposing their operations. Now the entire family is being hunted.”

Despite several reports made to the Sagamu Police Division and other security agencies in Ogun State, there has been no response or visible action taken to investigate or protect the family.
“They didn’t even come to the scene,” said a close family associate. “We’ve informed the police multiple times, but no one is doing anything.”
The community is growing increasingly frustrated over the rising cult-related violence and what many describe as the indifference of the authorities. Locals are now joining the family in calling on the government for protection and justice.
“This could happen to anyone,” said a concerned resident. “The killers are walking free while families live in fear.”
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by the Ogun State Police Command regarding the murder. The grieving family continues to seek for justice, hoping their cries will be heard before more lives are lost.
