EPL Table: Chelsea’s title ambitions drop with 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa

Chelsea’s hopes of winning the Premier League title this season took another huge blow following a 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday night.

The Blues were hoping to bounce back from an encouraging 2-2 draw with Newcastle last weekend.

They took the lead in the first half after Joao Pedro tapped home Reece James’ corner kick.

However, in the second half, Villa turned the game around to take all three points from Stamford Bridge.

Ollie Watkins came off the bench to hit a brace as Unai Emery’s side recorded their 11th straight win in all competitions.

Chelsea are now fifth on the table with 29 points, 13 behind league leaders Arsenal, who beat Brighton 2-1 earlier in the day.
