Emefiele Must Be Crazy
By Yemi Akinbode
Akin to the 1980 blockburster comedy film written and produced by Jamie Uys.
A comic allegory about a traveling Bushman who encounters modern technology brought trouble and anguish to the tribal people in a remote African kalabari desert. They live a happy life, but it is all torn to pieces when an empty Coca- …cola bottle drops magically from the sky and life goes topsy torvy.
What is the main message of The Gods Must Be Crazy?
The central theme in The Gods Must Be Crazy, and the mythological ‘lesson’ behind it, is that modern society comes with a resident evil that can only be vanquished by marshalling pre-modern forces.
The thematic Elements and Tone in The Gods Must Be Crazy and Dust Devil More results, aptly describe the Central Bank Nigeria’s (CBN) Policy recently introduced by the craciest ever Nigerian CBN governor.
What could have been Emefiele’s thought, what could have informed his dumb approach to the nasty currency disruption?
Cashless Economy Policy he says!
What is the thinking behind a policy that has now become an albatross to the common man?
Emefiele Must Be Crazy!
Nigerians are waiting for Emefiele answers. They are waiting for him to rationalise the objective of his sudden currency change; meant to swap old currency for new naira that are not in existence. Is it sancrosant that the old notes must be withdrawn from circulation so soon.
Many people have pin the currency change to the desire by Emefiele and the government to prevent politicians from using money to “buy votes” in the 2023 general elections.
As good as that may sound, the CBN governor doesn’t seems to be intelligent enough. If he is intellegent, he would have applied a simple economic matrix of “demand and supply” to his planning. This basic economic principle would have helped Emefiele to determine the average daily spend of Nigerians. The survey would have helped him to know the daily cash requirements of the economy.
The matrix has nothing to do with politics. It is a simple sampling of what is required daily by Nigerians to maintain their mental balance, keep the economy rolling without unleashing avoidable hardship and mental punishment on the common man.
Emefiele mopped up the old currency without a corresponding replacement with the new notes which would have created an equilibrium between demand and supply.
Emefiele Must Be Crazy!
In just one week, Emefiele much-talked about naira change has fell flat. What manner of manager is Emefiele, what manner of banker is Mr. Godwin? Is this how he managed Zenith bank? May be his zenith bank jaundiced success story is wrapped in the era of “cooked books”. If he was so good at Zenith, then zenith is not a good ground for sound economists.
Perhaps Emefiele was overrated! Yes i think he was overrated.
Emefiele Must Be Crazy!
Today Nigerians are going through the most ignoble financial crisis, a senseless currency swap that is ill-conceived and foolishly executed. A dumb policy that is purposely designed to create chaos and mischief is nothing but insane.
What a shame of a banker turn-economist. It is only in Nigeria that this can be tolerated. In other climes, Emefiele would have been fired and sent to jail.
How can you execute an economy policy that has now created more economic problems than you sought to solve. Emefiele Must Be Crazy!
Stripping to The Bank
A vast numbers of private business persons in Nigeria who does not touch government contracts or mingle with politicians would now be made to suffer jeopardy because of the senseless parochial thinking of an individual.
Emefiele Must Be Crazy!
The other day, a young woman had to go naked in a banking hall to show to her bankers how serious she needed money to get food for her kids. Today that kind of drama has become a common daily feature in the banking halls. Unless and untill you strip naked in the bank, you may not get a dime. So going to the bank unclad has become a strategy if you want a rescue by the Nigerian banks.
How many of our mothers, wives and sisters would have to strip before they receive attention. It has become a crime for the intenery traders in Balogun.market to have access to their own money, otherwise you strip to the banking halls in Nigeria. Emefiele Must Be Crazy!
Many people have push the narrative that it is because of the 2023 elections that the old currency is being swapped.
I don’t want to believe in the narrative that Emefiele and some certain elements in Nigeria are trying to sabotage certain presidential candidate. No, i dont want to buy into that. I think Emefiele is trying to destroy the legacy of the 8-year rule of President Buhari. I can’t figure out how damn Emefiele thinks Buhari has to wait for 4months to the end of his administration to change the naira or curb corruption when in actual fact he would have done the 2years ago. We can conclude that Emefiele himself is part of the corrupt elite. A CBN governor that was desperate to run for the position of president of Nigeria without resigning his appointment.
What an affront? Emefiele Must Be Crazy!
In 1978, Alhaji Adamu Ciroma had to resign as CBN governor for him to be able to contest the NPN presidential primary with Alhaji Maitama Sule and the eventual winner, late Alhaji Shehu Shagari in 1979. May their souls rest in peace. We can infer that Emefiele soul will not rest in peace either here or in hell.
Ironically, Enefiele pilfered, stole and spent Nigeria money in billions to run his aborted undercoverd political campaign in 2022.
2023 General Elections aside, Emefiele is a wicked person who do not care about the downtrodden. Is Emefiele oblivious of the multitude of Nigeria pupils and students in schools and universities who depends of cash to live and survive on daily basis. What could be more criminal than throwing Nigerians in despicable social and health crisis. In the last one week of the currency swap, we have read stories of Nigerians who have died in hospitals because of the inability of their families to get cash for medical care services. A cash swap policy devoid of human face. Never in the history of Nigeria have we experienced this kind of currency change and cash swap. Not even during the draconian era of the military. Emefiele has gone down as the only brainless CBN Governor with senseless currency change in history.
Emefiele has broken us into pieces, he has rèobbed Nigerians of their peace and happiness. Emefiele has stolen the joy of our pupils and students; his attempt to annihilate us under the guise of a cashless economy is the most stupid and dumb swap in history and must be resisted.
Like the Bushman of Kalahari desert who was bent on introducing an empty magical Coca-Cola bottle that drops from the sky brought sorrow and despair to the Kalahari community in that comic film “The God’s Must Be Crazy”!
So also Emefiele has brought despair and agony to the country Nigeria in his desperation to force an ill-conceived Cashless Policy on Nigeria’ns.
Emefiele Must Be Crazy! He has broken our homes, he has broken our children, Emefiele will break Nigeria and the peace that we enjoyed before his cash swap disruption. We must take our peace back. We must return to Emefiele his magical bottle and take back our nation.
