The Directorate of Part-Time Programmes (DPTP), Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, is set to celebrate its 30th Matriculation Ceremony, scheduled to hold on Friday, January 30, 2026.

This landmark event marks three decades of sustained commitment to flexible, inclusive, and quality university education. The Directorate commenced operations in the 1996/1997 academic session as the External Degree Programme (EDP), with pioneer study centres in Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Ibadan, Lagos, and Ilorin. Since then, the programme has expanded significantly in scope, academic offerings, and impact—producing graduates who continue to excel across the public and private sectors.

The growth and success of the Directorate have been driven by purposeful academic leadership since inception, beginning with the late Professor I. O. A. Adelola as the pioneer Director. The programme is presently led by Professor Kayode Arogundade, whose leadership continues to strengthen academic quality, institutional relevance, and student success.

EKSU’s Part-Time Programmes are strategically designed to meet the educational needs of working professionals, entrepreneurs, civil servants, artisans, and ambitious young adults who seek a university degree without disrupting their careers or personal responsibilities. Through Weekend and Weekday lecture options, students benefit from the same curriculum, lecturers, and academic standards obtainable in the full-time university system—delivered with enhanced flexibility.

The diverse professional background of participants fosters a rich learning environment, encouraging cross-fertilization of ideas, leadership development, and career advancement.

Situated at the Ifaki Campus, the Directorate offers all accredited undergraduate programmes available in the University—except those in the College of Medicine and the Faculties of Pharmacy and Law. In addition, it runs several professional postgraduate programmes, including Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Project Management, Master of Information Science & Master of Petroleum Economics, among others

As the Directorate celebrates 30 years of empowering dreams and transforming lives, the University also announces that admission into the Part-Time Programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session is now open.

Prospective candidates from diverse academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this flexible and reputable pathway to a university degree.
