All Progressive Congress (APC) Ekiti State chapter has accused the elder stateman,Aare Afe Babalola and others stakeholders who spoke their minds on ongoing assembly crisis of listening to one side of the story.

In a chat with our correcpondent, the state publicity secretary, Segun Dipe said the leaders spoke their minds based on one sided story from the former speaker’s Aribisogan camp.

Dipe said ” we take their advice for what it is: Advice. But how objective are they as elders, one may ask?”

The party listed below points as defence of its position on the matter.

  1. They relied majorly on the statement of Aribisogan alone.
  2. They failed or refused to reach out to the other side to hear their own sides. The other sides in this regard is the new Speaker, the party and notable party leaders mentioned.
  3. It offends the rule of natural justice, equity and good conscience to come to judgement on the statement of one party in a conflict.
  4. We have a constitution for the country, we have a constitution for the APC as a party, and we have the rules of the House of Assembly. It is not for a member to choose which one to obey and which one to disobey.
  5. Every organisations has its own set of rules and corresponding obligation of members to the organisation. You are first a Nigerian, then a member of a political party and then a member of the House of Assembly and then a principal officer of the House. The APC has made its position clear to members of the House of Assembly who are also members of it’s party.
  6. No member can enjoy the privilege of membership and shun his obligation to the party. A major obligation of members of APC, including Aribisogan, is obedience to decisions of the party validly made by the organ of the party vested with such powers.
  7. Peradventure the so called elders had made their
comments without recourse to the party and its leaders, one would regard such comments as one made in error.
  8. APC is not a court of law, we are only a political party but we are subject to law and having acted in accordance with the law, we know the circumstances that can compel us to reverse our decision and none has arisen.

Ekiti APC accused Afe and others of keeping mute when similar things happened in the past.

” We may also want to express our worries about the “elders” biasness or muteness when Dr. Omirin and Pastor Oluwawole were removed respectively in the time of PDP’s Fayose. Do we then take it that it was good for PDP to do but bad for APC?”

” Anyhow, what they, the elders have done is to advice and not to impose on anyone. We will surely weigh their advice dispassionately.”
