A Federal High Court has awarded ₦300,000,000 (Three Hundred Million Naira) in damages against Transnational Energy Limited, a company owned by Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, for forgery and falsification of corporate and court records.

The judgment follows years of legal proceedings arising from the forged removal of Dr. Funmi Rebecca Olawepo as a Director and Shareholder of Bresson A.S. Nigeria Ltd and Transnational Energy Ltd.

Earlier, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), in an official correspondence dated 15th September 2021, confirmed that the Commission could not expunge the disputed filings without a valid court order, and advised that the matter be referred to court for nullification of the forged documents. The respondents, led by Mr. Olawepo-Hashim, had refused to respond to CAC’s inquiries despite several opportunities.

In its final ruling, the court condemned the defendants for deliberate falsification, forgery, and abuse of legal process, declaring the disputed documents null and void, and awarding ₦300 million in damages to the claimant.

This ruling sends a clear message that forgery of court or corporate records will not go unpunished, and reaffirms the judiciary’s commitment to upholding integrity, transparency, and justice in Nigeria’s corporate space.
