Army Replaces Buhari’s Guards Commander
A new Commander for the Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Muhammed Takuti Usman, will assume duties on Monday, August 5.
The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Haruna Tagwai, announced this in a statement on Sunday.
The Guard Brigade is an elite brigade of the Nigerian Army responsible for protecting the President of Nigeria.
The Brigade members guard the residence of the President and his guests, as well as perform ceremonial duties.
Brig Gen MT Usman from Headquarters 28 Task Force Brigade replaces Brig Gen UT Musa who becomes Acting Commandant Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji.
Tagwai disclosed that the handing and taking over of command between will hold at Headquarters Guards Brigade Conference Room in Abuja.
According to Tagwai, the incumbent Commander will “decorate the Incoming with the Guards Brigade insignia at the ceremony”.
He added that “there will be lowering and hoisting of Flags at the Guards Brigade Quarter Guard which symbolize the end and the beginning of new administration in Guards Brigade”.
