A report by ThisDay indicates that the recent crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is a power-play between the party’s Governors and their National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the report, Tinubu installed Oshiomhole, while the party’s National Chairman has been shielding the former Lagos State Governor from the party’s Governors, many of who have 2023 ambition.
Those in the know say the latest crisis is part of the bid to grab the soul of the APC for the 2023 Presidential fight.
Tinubu is said to still have the ears of President Buhari despite facing opposition from Governors.
With a recent court ruling suspending Oshiomhole, believed to have been procured by proxy by the Governors, Analysts close to the power play in the party, say the stage is set for an epic battle with the National Leader.
Tinubu is believed to, however, still have the ears of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Meanwhile, a Federal High Court sitting in Kano dismissed the ruling of another court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja which suspended Oshiomhole on Wednesday, March 4.
Delivering his judgement on Thursday, March 5, Justice Lewis-Allagoa restrained the APC from recognising anyone apart from Oshiomhole as its National Chairman.
Before the Kano court ruling, there were rumours that Senator Abiola Ajimobi will take over the affairs of the party in an acting capacity.
Ajimobi, a former Governor of Oyo state, was named deputy National Chairman of the party on Wednesday, March 4.
