APC can’t defend its failures, so it resorts to attacks — Tambuwal’s camp

The media office of former Sokoto governor Aminu Tambuwal has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to fulfill its campaign promises instead of targeting critics of its policies.
Speaking on Saturday, Tambuwal stated that no politician with a conscience would join the APC, claiming that those defecting to the ruling party were motivated by “stomach infrastructure.” He argued that the country’s economic crisis made APC membership unappealing.
In response, APC spokesperson Felix Morka dismissed Tambuwal’s remarks, branding him a “notorious and vainglorious party defector.” Morka accused the former governor of hypocrisy, stating that his own history of political defections was driven by self-interest.
On Monday, Tambuwal’s media team released a statement condemning Morka’s remarks as an attempt to stifle opposition and distract Nigerians from the deepening economic and security challenges.
“Rather than addressing pressing issues like economic hardship, insecurity, and governance failures, the APC resorts to cheap propaganda and personal attacks—a tactic that reveals its desperation and leadership failure,” the statement read.
Tambuwal’s team accused the APC of using coercion, enticement, and intimidation to weaken opposition voices and push Nigeria toward one-party rule.
“The APC’s portrayal of recent defections as a result of President Tinubu’s so-called economic reforms is both misleading and insulting to Nigerians, who are enduring unprecedented hardship,” the statement continued.
It criticized the administration’s handling of the economy, citing rising inflation, worsening insecurity, and increasing unemployment that has forced businesses to shut down and plunged many into poverty.
The statement also defended Tambuwal’s legacy, emphasizing his role as a founding member of the APC and his “unassailable record of selflessness and patriotism.”

Rivers: Crisis with Wike led to my freedom – Fubara
![wike](https://gatekeeper.ng/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/wike-and-fub-1024x768-1.jpg)
Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has declared that his crisis with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike led to his freedom to govern the state.
Fubara made the remark while receiving the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev Henry Ndukauba and bishops of the church at the state’s Government House in Port Harcourt, the state Capital.
He recalled Ndukauba’s efforts to end the crisis between him and Wike.
Despite efforts by President Bola Tinubu and other political stakeholders, the crisis had continued.
Fubara said: ‘’God has a way of doing his things. Maybe if we had got peace, I wouldn’t be enjoying the freedom that I am enjoying today.
“I start first in a very unusual way to say thank you. This appreciation would have come much earlier. Many of you here may not understand why I am thanking him.
“When the crisis started, as a man of God who believes that the two main parties (Fubara and his immediate predecessor, Nyesom Wike) are people from his communion, he made several phone calls and booked several appointments but none of them was granted to him.
‘’I want to thank him for what he did even though it didn’t yield the required result, but you see God has a way of doing his things.
“Maybe if we had got peace then, I wouldn’t be enjoying the freedom that I am enjoying today.
‘’So at times, God will be saying let the trouble be there so that there will be peace. But that is not to say that we encourage trouble.
‘’ Peace remains the best thing, both internally and externally because it attracts development.”

2027 presidency: LP will help South-East realize ambition – Abure
Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Labour Party, LP, National Chairman, Julius Abure says the party will help the South-East realize its ambition of ruling Nigeria.
Abure said the party has no regret in zoning its ticket to the Southeast because Igbos are industrious, hardworking, and fearless.
He disclosed that the LP would still support the Southeast to achieve its ambition of ruling Nigeria.
Speaking on Sunday at a rally organised by LP members from the South-East ahead of the Abuja Area Council election scheduled for next year, Abure noted that the Southeast needs to realign with other regions to achieve its ambition of ruling Nigeria.
Recall that Peter Obi, who hails from the Southeast, was the party’s presidential flag bearer in the 2023 election.
He, however, lost to President Bola Tinubu who emerged winner, while he came third behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Abure said: “Before the 2023 general election, I used to believe erroneously that South East people were not united.
“But when Peter Obi joined the party, and I had the privilege of campaigning for him across Nigeria, I discovered that the Igbos are the most united, industrious, hardworking and fearless.
“That is why today, I have no regrets that despite all odds, we zoned the presidential ticket of our party to the South East.
“We powerfully and courageously did that in the 2023 general election. But I think that the Igbos must also go back to the drawing board.
“The Igbos need more realignment with the other sections of the country.
“I want to assure you that the Labour Party is still ready and available to support Ndigbo to realise the ambition of ruling the country in future.”

You’re only after stomach infrastructure – Tambuwal slams defectors from PDP
![](https://gatekeeper.ng/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Tambuwal.jpg)
Former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has dismissed the wave of political defections in the North West, insisting that they are driven by personal gains rather than the interest of the people.
DAILY POST recalls that several PDP and Labour Party members from Southern Kaduna had on Saturday defected to the ruling APC.
Speaking with journalists after the maiden Zonal Executive Council Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northwest in Kaduna on Saturday, Tambuwal criticized defectors who align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that their motives are not rooted in public service.
“People leave parties for different reasons. But what I have observed is that defections are not based on the interest of the people but on personal gains, what I call ‘stomach infrastructure.’
“If you are a politician with a conscience, you wouldn’t join the APC given the current economic hardship and the poor performance of the Tinubu administration,” Tambuwal stated.
The PDP chieftain lambasted the APC-led federal government, accusing it of lacking focus, compassion, and direction. He called on opposition forces to unite and strategize for the 2027 elections to provide an alternative for Nigerians.
“There is nothing appealing in the APC beyond personal benefits. Those of us who believe in this country and in service to the people must come together to ensure that by 2027, we remove this administration that has failed Nigerians,” he added.
