APC Campaign: We Are Ready For Flag Off Today – DG
Lalong, who inspected the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos, yesterday, billed to host the flag-off by President Muhammadu Buhari, said all is set for a hitch-free and colourful event.
Director-General of All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, has said the state and the party are ready for the presidential campaign flag-off, today.
Lalong, who inspected the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos, yesterday, billed to host the flag-off by President Muhammadu Buhari, said all is set for a hitch-free and colourful event.
According to him, the state will sustain its record of hosting national party conventions and presidential campaigns that produce Nigerian presidents.
He said the city of Jos and Plateau were already agog, as APC faithful and the citizens prepare to receive APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu; his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima; APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, governors, among other leaders and members of the party across the nation.
The governor said: “Anybody who is declared here goes on to win the presidential election. We know of Moshood Abiola and Olusegun Obasanjo. Tinubu is also going the same way because we have been blessed. I am very impressed with the show of hospitality and excitement among the citizens who are ready to receive the victory of APC.”

Trump slams Biden for commuting death sentence of 37 prisoners to life
US President-elect, Donald Trump, has blasted the incumbent president Joe Biden for commuting the sentences of almost every American federal prisoner on death row, as he prepares to replace the Democrat in the White House.
Gatekeeper recalls that President Biden, in his final month in office, announced that he was converting the death sentences of 37 of the 40 inmates awaiting federal execution to life without the possibility of parole.
The inmates included nine people convicted of murdering fellow prisoners, four for murders committed during bank robberies and one who killed a prison guard.
“Joe Biden just commuted the Death Sentence on 37 of the worst killers in our country,” Trump posted on Truth Social, his social media platform.
“When you hear the acts of each, you won’t believe that he did this. Makes no sense. Relatives and friends are further devastated. They can’t believe this is happening,” Trump said.
Biden had imposed a moratorium on the federal death penalty but was under pressure to act further before leaving the White House on January 20, amid signals from Republican Trump that he would resume the practice.
Three men were excluded from the move: one of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombers, a gunman who murdered 11 Jewish worshippers in 2018 and a white supremacist who shot nine Black churchgoers dead in 2015.

Again, NNPCL reduces fuel price
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has again reduced its retail price for Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, to N965 per litre.
DAILY POST’s correspondent, who went around NNPCL retail outlets in Abuja, observed that the state-owned oil firm has adjusted its pump price to N965 per litre from N1040.
NNPCL filling stations along Kubwa Expressway now dispense PMS at N965 per litre.
This represents an N75 price reduction. Earlier last week, the firm had reduced its petrol to N1,040 per litre.
Meanwhile, the latest price cut comes after Dangote Refinery, in partnership with MRS filling station, reduced its petrol to N935 from N1,060 per litre.
Accordingly, Nigerians now buy petrol at N965 and N935 per litre at NNPCL and MRS filling stations in Abuja. The differential between MRS and NNPCL now stands at N30 per litre.
It was observed that a PMS price war has broken out between Dangote Refinery and NNPCL.
Reacting to the development in a statement on Monday, the national president of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, PETROAN, Billy Gillis-Harry, and the spokesperson of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Chinedu Ukadike, were optimistic about further petrol cuts amid competition.

Christmas: Nigeria on path to restoration – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu says Nigeria is on the path to restoration and progress.
The President, who said this in a Christmas message on Tuesday, urged the citizens to pray for the nation’s leaders at all levels.
Felicitating Nigerians on the Christmas celebration, Tinubu said, “On this joyous Christmas Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to Christians across Nigeria and worldwide as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, as narrated in the Holy Scriptures.
“Nigeria is on a promising path of restoration and progress, with every indication pointing toward a bright future. In the spirit of this season, let us renew our hope and belief in a prosperous Nigeria.
“Let us extend similar support and prayers to our nation’s leaders. With your backing, we can serve our country diligently and strive for prosperity.”
According to him, Christmas embodies the fulfilment of divine prophecy and symbolises the triumph of love, peace, and unity.
The President said the event is a poignant reminder that light can emerge even in the darkest times, bringing solace and hope, adding that this belief resonates with people of all faiths.
He also sympathised with the families of victims who died in the recent stampedes in Abuja, Ibadan and Anambra.
While describing the incidents as tragic, Tinubu prayed that such events do not happen in the nation again.
“Recent tragic events in Oyo, Okija, and Abuja deeply sadden us, and our thoughts are with those who continue to suffer from these heartbreaking incidents.
“We earnestly pray that such misfortunes do not revisit our families and communities and that the lives of innocents are never again cut short.
“I offer my deepest sympathies to the families enduring pain and loss this year, whether from floods, fires, or accidents.
“May we all find comfort and solace in our faith, the support of loved ones, and the abiding presence of Jesus Christ. Our compassionate and merciful God stands with the weak, the brokenhearted, and the sick,” he added.
