The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to prioritise teachers’ welfare, professional development and improved working conditions if elected governor in 2027.

Adeola made the commitment in a message commemorating the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, where he commended teachers across the state for their dedication to educating and shaping the next generation despite the challenges confronting the profession.

The senator, who represents Ogun West in the National Assembly, said teachers remained critical to human capital development and the overall future of the state. Adeola is the APC’s candidate for the 2027 Ogun governorship election, following the party’s primary process earlier this year.

He said his administration, if elected, would review teachers’ salaries, improve their working conditions and ensure timely payment of their entitlements, stressing that a motivated teaching workforce was essential to achieving better learning outcomes.

As part of his education agenda, Adeola also promised to establish teacher training centres in each of Ogun State’s three senatorial districts to enable teachers to update their knowledge and acquire new skills.

“Teachers play a critical role in shaping the future of our children and, by extension, the future of Ogun State. Their commitment, patience and dedication deserve recognition and support,” he said.

“On this World Teachers’ Day, I celebrate our teachers and reaffirm my commitment to promoting better welfare, improved working conditions and opportunities for professional growth,” Adeola added.

The pledge comes against the backdrop of recent engagements between Adeola and teachers in the state, during which he outlined plans for the education sector and promised to implement the National Teachers’ Policy if elected.
