Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid unresolved internal crisis.
This announcement comes just hours after Sunday Bisi, the Osun State Chairman of the PDP, revealed that Adeleke would not seek the party’s re-election ticket due to ongoing national leadership crises within the party.
A letter addressed to the PDP chairman of his Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde in Ede, Osun State, dated November 4, 2025, confirmed his resignation. The letter, titled “Resignation of my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),” states:
The letter confirmed by a media aide to the governor read: “Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect. I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party.”
With his resignation now official, speculation is rife regarding which political party Adeleke may join for his future political endeavors.
Another letter signed by the national organising secretary of the party, Theophilus Shan, disclosed that the party will hold its primary election to elect the governorship candidate of the party in Osogbo, today, Monday.
He advised the candidates cleared for the primary to conduct themselves in accordance with provision of the party.
