Don Jazzy, a Nigerian producer and music entrepreneur, has stated that he nearly gave up music and moved abroad when Mo’Hits, the record label he co-founded with D’banj, collapsed unexpectedly in 2012 owing to tensions between them.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Don Jazzy said that his friends encouraged him to remain and start over, and so Mavin Records was formed.

The ‘Dorobucci’ singer added that the experience made him stronger, and that nothing since then has been able to break him.

“When Mo’Hits ended, I thought that was it. I almost packed up to move abroad. But friends encouraged me to stay and start again, and Mavin Records was born. Since then, I’ve learned not to let anything break me,” he said.

After Mo’Hits split, Don Jazzy created Mavin Records, which housed several of the label’s old musicians (Wande Coal, Dr SID, D’Prince) as well as talents such as Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korode Bello, and Di’ja.
